I have a ‘frozen shoulder’ – adhesive capsulitis to be precise, but frozen shoulder ‘feels’ more. Objective fact – physical damage – coincides with subjective experience in a blur of chemically controlled pain. It is my left shoulder…for that I am grateful…there is a tear in the muscle, tendonitis in the tendon, the fact that there is pain also in my wrist, my hand, suggests possible damage to my cervical spine, the part that, in the brightly lit but narrow tunnel, the MRI scan didn’t scan. I am writing a book, writing a paper for a conference in Istanbul, drawing and thinking about imagery and war. I have frozen shoulder.
